What We Do
Pastor Assist supports pastors through a ministry of service and encouragement. It does this free of charge. It's important to note that a comparable service would cost at least $1,000 per week, plus travel expenses. Pastor Assist is funded by outside donors so that this additional burden does not fall on a struggling pastor or missionary. This is a truly a unique ministry and approach. There is no "catch 22" and there are no strings attached.

Pastor Assist comes alongside pastors who are:

  • Burned out
  • Discouraged
  • Facing relational or personal challenges
  • Facing marital challenges
  • Feeling alone
  • Simply in need of a confidant who can spur them on in the sometimes lonely world of ministry.

We do this by:

  • Phone consultation
  • Traveling to meet in person
  • Giving prayer support
  • Assuming agreed-upon pastoral responsibilities so that a pastor can take time to regroup

Tim is available to preach, counsel and speak at events to support pastors who are in need of recuperation. He can also provide oversight to financial and administrative issues as needed. Tim is available to serve as a mentor, sounding board and prayer partner.

"I'm not Mr. Fix It," Tim says. "I don't come in as a consultant with an agenda or a counselor who can cure whatever ails a pastor or a church. Although I am willing to offer insight and counsel, the goal of Pastor Assist is to stand with you, as Aaron and Hur lifted up the weary arms of Moses. When I help a pastor and a church, their agenda becomes my agenda."

In addition, Tim's wife, Gayle, is available to offer support and encouragement to pastors' wives as well as church women. Gayle is a popular conference speaker. Together, the Honeycutts can offer encouragement and support in marital and family issues.

"We've been through a lot together in 31 years," Tim says. "We've certainly had practice learning from our mistakes. We'd be delighted to help other couples work through some of the struggles we have endured and overcome in marriage."

In addition, Tim has learned something that many pastors have yet to understand: how to relax while doing ministry.

"You've got to be able to enjoy life, family and some hobbies while still being fully engaged in ministry," Tim says. "Otherwise, you'll burn out quickly."

It's important to understand that Pastor Assist is truly for pastors in need. It is not a service to cover during vacations.

"I want to be there when the pastor is there," Tim says. "If I'm simply filling in while someone is out of town, then no personal assistance is provided. This is a relational ministry, with the goal of developing an ongoing relationship of mentoring and support."
